TRAVEL NEWS – Holding meetings and/or events at Marriott Hotels has long been a way to earn extra rewards points and fast track your way to higher elite status. However, one of the better perks is changing for 2020.

Previously, members could earn ten elite night credits for hosting their first qualifying event at one of its properties. Now, members earn 1 Elite Night Credit for every 20 room nights members book and stay, with a maximum of twenty Elite Night Credits per contract.

Marriott Elite Status Basics

The Marriott Bonvoy webpage provides the following breakdown of how to qualify for Marriott Elite Status:

Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite: 10 to 24 Qualifying Nights

Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite: 25 to 49 Qualifying Nights

Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite: 50 to 74 Qualifying Nights

Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite (previously Platinum Premier Elite): 75 Qualifying Nights or higher

Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite (previously Platinum Premier Elite with ambassador service): 100 Qualifying Nights and US$20,000 in qualified annual spend.

As you can see, under the old system one meeting could grant you Silver Elite status right away. Now it’s more challenging.
